The Temper V is very similar to the W other than it is a lower output cartridge. Some say it is slightly more detailed. The Temper series was retired a couple of years ago I believe and was replaced with the Orpheus and to a somewhat lesser degree, the Phoenix.
I also have an Aria. The Transfiguration line is a great line of cartridges. I wish they got more publicity. They are very neutral and try hard to get out of the way of the music. I have owned a lot of cartridges and the the Transfiguration's are among my favorites.
My Aria only has about hours on it and it is currently put away since I took down the system I had it on. Great fit and finish and wonderful sounding. I am debating whether to keep it or sell it as I don't think I will be putting another system up. Hope that helps. Your info really helps Transfiguration is right to my taste. I just realized the Temper series is discontinued. It's strange I cannot find any online store fm Japan selling Transfiguration but north America site.
Anyway, I decided to go for Axia. The Phoenix is a really fun sounding cartridge. Indian Love Call - Nelson Eddy ,With Jeanette MacDonald - On The Air haven't heard the Axia.
I own the low output version of the Orpheus. That is a terrific overall cartridge. It too Aria Te Sciroccu - Various - Blue Jeans Size III (8-Track Cartridge) a slight upper midrange prominence compared to my Lyra Titan.
It may not have quite the same upper end openness of the Titan, but, it sounds very nice actually, both are very good cartridges. Both the Dynavectors and the Transfigurations have a very similar house sound. My Temper is so smooth and open and dynamic and musical. Truly a world class cartridge that you can keep forever. Seiji Yoshioka selling overpriced things; with the catholic name, but prices is not catholic - for example - his "Axia" model comparable in sound quality to "Dynavector DV20X2L", but completely inferior to "Dynavector Karat DV17D3", all of which diffs will notice even by an inexperienced housewife.
And something wrong with the sharpening methods from Mr. Ogura - my good friend was tormented with the setting "Axia" in conjuction with the "SME V" tonearm and a bunch of the different Aria Te Sciroccu - Various - Blue Jeans Size III (8-Track Cartridge) - profiles like "fine line" usually too simply for make such tortures.
